About The Adroit Journal Mentorship Program:

The Adroit Journal Mentorship Program is a highly regarded initiative that pairs talented young writers with established authors, providing them with one-on-one mentorship and support to help develop their literary skills and artistic vision. Designed for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, this program offers a unique opportunity for emerging writers to receive individualized guidance and feedback on their writing projects. Application Deadlines and Requirements:

  • Application Deadline: Varies, but usually anywhere from March 1 to April 1

  • Program Duration: June to August

Application Requirements:

  1. Submission of Writing Sample: Applicants are required to submit a writing sample showcasing their talent and potential. This could include poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or a combination of genres.

  2. Personal Statement: Along with their writing sample, applicants are asked to provide a personal statement detailing their writing journey, goals, and aspirations. This allows mentors to better understand the applicant's background and interests.

  3. Letter(s) of Recommendation: Applicants may be required to submit one or more letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or other individuals who can speak to their writing abilities and potential for growth.

  4. Completed Application Form: Applicants must complete and submit the online application form, providing all requested information and materials within the specified deadline.

Program Structure:

Once selected for the mentorship program, participants are paired with a mentor who shares their literary interests and can provide valuable guidance throughout the duration of the program. Mentors and mentees engage in regular correspondence, exchanging feedback, discussing writing techniques, and setting goals for the mentee's creative development.


Throughout the 12-week program, mentees have the opportunity to refine their writing skills, receive constructive criticism, and gain insights into the professional world of literature.
